In Search of Canning Jar Lamp Supplies

Where can I find different size Mason jars wholesale with the hole already drilled near the bottom to make candle lamps? Thank you!

Pre-drilled canning jars are difficult to find and I don't know of any wholesalers.

Pre-wired canning jar lids are widely available; but they have the cord exiting the lid itself, rather than from the bottom of the glass jar. The bulb or candle sits on top of the jar rather than inside.

I know of one source for pre-drilled Mason jars but they currently only carry a quart size jar. However, they have very good customer service and if you contact them, they may be able to provide different sizes for you. Go to the Prim Prairie Home Page. Scroll down the index on the far left and click on Lanterns and Lighting.

Jarden Home Brands, the company which currently manufactures Ball and Kerr canning jars, sometimes carries a 2-gallon jar with spigot near the bottom of the jar which could be used to make large lamps. Simply remove the spigot and use the hole for your wire.

Finally, you can buy whatever size jars you desire and learn to drill them yourself, or better yet, find a craftsman with the necessary safety equipment, drill bits and expertise to do it for you. You'll find details on glass drilling in this article.
