Vintage Look Decoupage

Hello,

I've got a craft project in mind but I'm not 100% sure how to carry it out successfully. I've purchased an old poster print (La Boheme) and would like to hang it on my wall.

However, I'd like to mount/frame it in such a way that it will continue to look vintage. I've been thinking about using Mod Podge to put it on a slab of MDF (medium density fiber board) because I like the idea of having the texture show through a bit.

However, I've never worked with MDF before and don't want to get in over my head, nor do I want to ruin my poster. Do I need to seal it first? What should I use? Do you have any tips or other suggestions I should consider?

I will REALLY appreciate any help, tips, or steps you can share.

Thanks!
Christina
