Marketing Original Art Stamp Designs

Art Stamp DesignsMy daughter is an amazing artist and has been wanting to design her own rubber stamp design line. How does she find an honest company that would help her?

Would it be better if she had her own stamps made and sold them?

Thank you so much for any help.

Debbie,

P.S. I love all the Craft Ideas!!!!

"How does she find an honest company that would help her?" is an interesting way to frame the issue. I'm afraid that's not how the real world works. Your daughter will need to find a company who can use her talents.

Art stamps and the many crafts which employ them are so popular that there are over 350 companies which make art stamps! You can look at that fact in two ways: as a lot of competition; or a lot of opportunities.

Addicted to Rubber Stamps claims to be the world's largest art stamp store. They sell stamp products from almost 350 companies. Some of these companies could be potential purchasers of your daughter's designs.

On this page, you can sort the companies according to the size of their product selection to identify most of the biggest players in the art stamp business. I would start at the top of the list and work my way down.

Some companies, like Stampendous, use only one designer. Others like Inkadinkadoo represent many artists.

You don't say if your daughter is employed in the art field already (just that she's an "amazing artist"). If she is a working artist, she may already have some connections that will help her open doors.

Yes, she definitely should have some of her designs made into stamps. Or she can even produce her own art stamps using a simple kit which you can read about here.

She should use her original stamps to make cards and other craft projects for presentation. She should submit her projects to stamp and paper craft magazines for publication. If she wants or needs supplemental income, she should try selling both her completed projects and the stamps while she tries to build a reputation in the field.

Good luck to your daughter and I'm so glad you are enjoying The Artful Crafter!

Regards,
Eileen
