If you do decoupage art or would like to commission an artist to do decoupage for you, here's how to connect with some serious decoupeurs.
Hi Eileen,
I'm trying to find someone to decoupage some furniture in Los Angeles California. Do you have any contacts? I don't know where to begin.
Thanks,
Emma
Hi Emma,
No I'm sorry; I don't. The Artful Crafter's audience is primarily artists and crafters who are looking for technical or business advice, as well as new project ideas.
However, do you know that there are national and regional decoupage guilds around the globe, as well as prestigious decoupage exhibits and juried shows?
The National Guild of Decoupeurs, founded in 1971, is U.S.-based and has chapters in South Africa, Japan and Canada.
[For my other readers: Australia founded an independent guild in 1984 and the U.K. guild was established in 1993.]
All of these organizations are non-profit and have similar aims and goals:
• To promote decoupage;
• To share knowledge and creative ideas;
• To provide advice and assistance on the art;
• To hold annual exhibits and other displays; and
• To encourage high artistic and ethical standards among the artists.
The National Guild of Decoupeurs has a “Contact Us” button on their website. Perhaps they can put you in touch with some decoupage artists in your area or give you a schedule of upcoming shows where you could connect with the artists directly.
Regards,
Eileen
