Scrap Girls Vacation Challenge: Five Random Facts

If you need some inspiration for scrapping your family or vacation photos, you really should get involved in the wonderful online community at Scrap Girls.

We were in Cancun with my brother and sister-in-law last February. I got some really nice photos; but they sat on my hard drive nagging me for months. “Scrap me. Scrap me.” they pleaded , “… before the memories fade too much … before your hard drive crashes or some of us get corrupted. Puhleeease, scrap me now!”

Then in August, along came Scrap Girls with the perfect inspiration for scrapping these precious memories: a vacation challenge! Scrap your vacation photos and include five random thoughts that might not otherwise be obvious from just the photos themselves.

I love this two-page layout because it captures our entire week together. It allowed me to use several of the best photos, and incorporate a timeline telling what we did along the way.

Here are my random thoughts about a memorable week.

• Golf cart on Isla Mujeres - $7
• Dinner at Captain’s Cove - $180
• Shopping at the Royal Sands ???
• Royal Sands condiments for our room - “gift” from our waiter
• Dinner at La Dolce Vita - $140
• Time with Tom & Jill - Priceless!

This layout was done in Adobe Photoshop. I used 1942 Report, Bradley Hand ITC and CluffHMK fonts and products from the Scrap Girls graphic designers Brandy Hackman, Melissa Renfro, and Thao Cosgrove, as well as a grunge frame from Jessica Sprague and grunge brushes from M Brabec.
