Hi,
I wanted to tell you how much we all LOVE your site. It's packed with everything you'd want to know about everything, craftwise!
I wanted to let you know about a shoe/boot design/making school that is fully dedicated to shoes.
Classes are held in a working custom shoe/boot shop and classes range from a full certificate program (where students make a full range of footwear from sandals to boots) to individual classes a la carte.
Because we host classes from beginner to advanced every month of the year, I thought this might be a welcome alternative (or addition to) Prescott & McKay's class which is held only several times a year in the SF Bay area.
The fact that the classes are conducted in a working custom shoe/boot lab makes it a superior environment for students to learn in. The courses are taught by working shoe makers in an individualized mentoring like environment in Northern Arizona surrounded by breath taking red rock country.
I thought you and your readers might find this info helpful.
Let me know if you need more info.
Check out the Shoe College's site for course listings, descriptions, tuition, special programs and more.
Happy crafting in 2009!
Ona Zim, Student Coordinator
Hi Ona,
I’m so glad you’re enjoying The Artful Crafter.
Thanks so much for writing to let us know about fashion designer, Tamera Lyndsay’s Shoe College. I am happy to share this information with my readers. To quote from your website …
"The Shoe College was established in 2003 by an American custom shoe designer to help pass on the lost skills of this wonderful art.
Discovering through her own educational and vocational experiences (gotten largely in London & NYC) the lack of full ranging footwear design programs available in the US, she began offering classes modeled on training programs used for her own employees."
Regards,
Eileen
