How to Create Smooth Finish Decoupage with No Visible Brush Strokes

When you decoupage the front of a glass jar and you look at it from the inside where the picture was placed and glued, you can see the streaks of the glue on the back of the picture.

Doesn't look very nice. How do you make it look nice from the inside as well?
