Ladder Yarns are Stunning but Not Easy to Knit

Ladder Yarns are Popular Because They're Beautiful

Your website encouraged me to pick up a project that I had given up on. Now I am ready to give up again. I am trying to knit a shawl using Eros Drifters yarn. I cannot figure out how to knit with it. Can you help with this?

Ladder Yarn Knitted Shawls

Hi Pat,

I've only used railroad track or ladder yarns like Eros Drifters to make fiber necklaces. I found ladder yarn difficult to use even for such a simple application, so I had to consult some yarn experts.

See what I learned in Ladder Yarns are Stunning but Not Easy to Knit.

As I said, ladder yarns are stunning!

  1. So *that's* what those yarns are called! I've been calling them ribbon yarn, but I knew that wasn't right.

  2. They're a type of ribbon yarn, Cyndi. So you're correct.

They're also called trellis yarns and some people even have swear words for them ;-)

But they make gorgeous projects once you learn to work with them

I'm going to give it another go.
