My First Artist Trading Card Won Second Place!

ATC Card Challenge
[Durin Eberhart Background Design]

I'm so excited! I learned over the weekend that my entry to the Scrap Girls ATC Challenge won a set of Pitt art pens and a watercolor paintbrush – "must-have tools for anyone interested in creating an art journal!"

I take the prize as a sign that I should to do a bit more art journaling. I love doing it but don't often make the time.

You can see all the winning ATC designs on the Scrap Girls Blog.

Every winner's ATC style is unique. Two are riots of color with layers upon layers of elements; while two (mine of course) are more subdued. (I DO need to break out artistically a bit.)

Personally I would have selected the third place card for first place. It's a matter of taste - which is a nice thing about ATCs. If you like what you see, the card's a winner.

I think there's only one rule for ATCs: they must be 2.5 x 3.5 inches for easy trading. Oh and, I guess because they are by definition cards, they need to be two dimensional. They should be signed by the artist.

Other than that, I think the sky's the limit. Usually there's word art and a message. Colors schemes vary from B&W to psychedelic.

Do you create ATCs? Can you add any information?

Thanks guys,

Yes, I do plan to do more ATCs. They're really fun and another way I can use my extensive collection digital scrapbook products.
