Glimmer Mist Crinkle Ribbon How-Not-To

First, here’s a video of how easy glimmer mist crinkle ribbon is supposed to be to make.

It’s sooo pretty and looks so easy to do.

Making Glimmer Mist RibbonLook at the mess I made in the guest bath. Look at my shimmery hand. I’ve been so absorbed with digital crafting lately that I’d almost forgotten how much fun it is to get your hands dirty with colorful paints and messy glue.

But guess what? I followed the directions to a “t”. I moistened and scrunched. I used freezer paper so I could sop up all the lovely color. I sprayed with walnut ink for an antique-y look and scrunched some more. Then I scrunched it up in a ball and left it to dry.

My hem tape never crinkled. I tried 100% polyester tape. Then I tried cotton. I went back to the video and figured out the hem tape used is rayon. I don’t have rayon and am searching all over town – so far with no luck.

Is that the key or is there something wrong with my scrunching technique? Or is it the glimmer mist? Have any of you tried this successfully? I could use some help here.
