I got lots of inspiration for new tote bag decorating projects … and not all of them came from the fabric and sewing section. Did you ever think of using scrapbooking embellishments for fabric crafts?
I picked up several packages of ki Memories Softies. The soft rubber should work well on canvas totes – especially the type of designs with holes that can be used to sew the embellishments on.
I got a pack of darling rubber buttons with raised colorful graphic designs and a pack of label holders that can be sewn on using the “nail” holes. I also got a pack of corner swirls without holes. Not sure how I’ll attach those; but I may just poke my own holes to sew them on.
I found some pretty metal slides on ribbons (by Sonnets Studios) with word art slides saying, “beach”, “vacation”, and “seaside”. I feel a beach bag tote coming on!
Now that I’ve blogged about my craft inspiration outing, I guess I’ve enjoyed two of my favorite things today. What a lovely day!

Aren't they bright and cheery, June? The scrapbooking embellishments coordinate beautifully.

The soft rubber designs should work wonderfully, especially since you usually just wipe down a canvas bag to clean it!
