What is the going rate for knitted cable afghans here in Kansas?
Thank you.

============================================
Gosh, Norma, I have no idea! We're not in Kansas anymore. Lol.
Most of the afghans on Etsy are offered for between $40 and $50. There are a few crafters asking around $100 for theirs, but I doubt those will sell.
Check some local boutiques and ask friends who appreciate hand-knitted items (i.e. knowledgeable buyers) what they would be willing to pay for one of your afghans.
The local market price will be somewhere in the range of all the quotes you can gather (from Etsy, boutiques and friends, after throwing out the outliers like the $100 asking price on Etsy).
It's hard to receive proper monetary compensation for the time you put into crocheted and knitted items. Most people do it for love as the author of this article, For the Love of One's Craft, points out.
Before I was married, I got the idea that I would like to make a crocheted tablecloth for my trousseau. Well, I worked on it off and on for several years before I finally threw in the towel.
I still have it and pull it out to admire and have a laugh once in a while. It’s 6 feet long by 9 inches at the widest. It’s a reminder to me that my time is valuable. No one would ever pay me enough to compensate for the time I put into it. Maybe some day I’ll rearrange some of the panels and make a table runner.
Good luck!
Regards,
Eileen
