Halloween CD Ghost

Holiday CraftsThis is a very economical and easy project for Halloween. Let the kids make several to hang from a porch or trees. Because they are lightweight, these spooks sway and spin with the breeze – much to the delight of your Trick or Treaters.

Supplies:

• 1 old CD
Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic white and black paint
• Paint brush
• Elmer's Glue
• White tissue paper
• Scissors
• ½ yd. string

Instructions:

Paint the CD with white paint on both sides. Let dry and apply a second coat.

Paint eyes and a mouth on one or both sides of the CD in black paint. [When the wind blows the ghost about, the backside of the CD will become visible.]

Run the string through the center hole and knot ends together. Cut the ends off close to the knot.

Suspend the CD from a shelf or cabinet door so you can glue on the streamers.

Cut several layers of white tissue paper in 1” wide strips. Example has 12 strips on each side.

Run a line of glue around the bottom half of the CD’s edge from one side of the face to the other.

Attach tissue strips starting at bottom center and working up along each side. As you move up along the sides, make sure the streamers hang straight so they will fall correctly, especially when you attach the last two or three strips.

Repeat attaching strips on the reverse side of the CD.

Eileen...this is BRILLIANT! What a perfect way to use the old CDs and all ages can help! I think I'll make several to hang on the trees in my yard!

How cute is that? My kids would have loved making these back in the days of abundant AOL discs everywhere. Fortunately, I've still got some saved...

Just an idea, how about using plastic shopping bags instead of tissue. It would weather better-in case of rain, and would be a second level use for the bags.

Thanks for sharing and for giving me another craft to do with my children!

Thanks for a terrific "green" suggestion, MamaFish.

I'm off to my stash in search of white plastic bags to recycle ... ziiiip ->
