How to Make a Crayon Heart Card

Kids just love receiving Valentine’s cards and, even more so, “action cards” like these which engage their creative potential.

The recipients remove the crayon hearts and use them to color or draw whatever their little hearts desire.

[Perhaps the card should come with a caution to “Use Only on Paper” (no walls, floors or furniture, please). LOL!]

Supplies:
Pink cardstock
5-inch circle pattern
Colored Sharpie Pen in bright pink
1 small box of crayons - 12 count
Sticky foam tape
Metal heart mold – example uses a heart cookie mold 2 ½ inches across
Aluminum foil
Oven

Instructions:
Place a piece of foil large enough to fit in the heart mold. Press it down firmly to get all the ridges as flat as possible. Set aside.

Unwrap each crayon. Break or cut crayons into small pieces about ¼ inch long. Mix the pieces together. Fill the foil lined heart with crayon pieces until almost full.

Heat at 250 F (120 C) degrees until all the pieces have melted. Carefully take the molded wax heart out of the oven and set aside to harden.

Cut a 5-inch circle from pink cardstock. Using the Sharpie pen, write a message around the circle leaving the center for the crayon heart.

Cut a 1-inch strip of the sticky foam and place the sticky side to the back of the crayon heart. Peel the paper off the exposed side and then stick the heart in the middle of the card.
