I am trying to find out how to make mint matchbooks.
Thank you,
Linda
===========================================
Hi Linda,
I got your question yesterday morning and was so intrigued with the idea of making them myself that I spent the entire day working out the “how-to”. I’ve seen these cute little matchbooks as wedding and party favors. Each matchbook contains an after dinner mint and is inscribed with the occasion, date and/or some significant saying.
I made the ones pictured here for an upcoming birthday. The front says, “Happy Birthday, Gwennie!” and the back says, “May your day be as special as you!!” On the top I just put the year.
I did mine using Print Shop, but you can use any graphics software. I’ll be putting up a step-by-step tutorial on The Artful Crafter ASAP.
These matchbooks measure 1 ¾ inch W x 1 ⅞ inch L when folded. Each strip to make them measures 1 ¾ inch W x 4 ¼ inch L. When working out a project like this, I simply start with a piece of scrap paper (sometimes several!) and figure out how to get it into the shape and size I want.
This also allows me to see how the type needs to be oriented.
Find the step-by-step instructions here.
