Glitter Glue Ornament

This ornament looks lovely, especially when the tree is lit. The glitter catches the lights and just gleams. You don’t need much in the way of drawing skills and the materials list is very short. All you need are …

Materials:
Clear Glass Ornament
DecoArt Craft Twinkles Writer Glitter Paint
Mug (as a drying rack)

Instructions
1. Shake the Glitter Glue well to disperse the glitter into the glue.
2. Remove the cap and, holding the ornament in one hand, squeeze and draw one branching swirly vine from the ornament’s cap down to the bottom. You want to cover one half of the ornament, so weave the vine and branches left and right.
3. Add leaves all along the vines branches.
4. Carefully set the ornament on top of the mug “rack” painted side up and let dry.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 on the other half of the ornament.

Tips:
Do a short practice with the Glitter Glue bottle just to get a feel for the pressure needed to paint with it.

You may want to practice drawing a stretched out “S” shape for the vines and then adding oval leaves along the length of the vine with pencil on paper. But this is really pretty freeform. Not to worry if you make a mistake.

You can wipe it away quickly with a tissue and nail polish remover; or do as I did and make the mistakes (usually a splotch of glitter glue that comes out too fast) into a solid leaf. Notice in the photo that some leaves are filled in and some aren’t. Shhh – don’t tell anyone the filled ones were boo-boos. They’ll never guess!
