The Girlfriend Cake

This is the wildest scrapbook layout I've ever done - no photos and lots of journaling about a very special bunch of ladies to whom I dedicate this LO. After I finished it I realized the cake part would make a very cute birthday card. So I’ll get more use out of my work!

The cake was created using Erica Hite’s Layer Your Own Birthday Cake, which is a Scrap Simple product.

Scrap Simple products come in pieces like a puzzle. All you do is clip your choice of paper onto each piece and then drag the decorated pieces onto your layout. Tip: if you hold the shift key down while you drag, the pieces will automatically align themselves.

My journaling says:

"The Girlfriend Cake ... What a Great Recipe we Made!

Eileen - the batter, a bit bland but she always rose to the occasion.

Pam - the fruity filling and spice in the cake; she brought a wicked sense of humor to any gathering.
Barbara Ann – the decorations, always adding her special touch, rich (in love and kindness).
Suzie – the icing, sweet as sugar from the bottom of her heart.

Clipp - the sparklers on the cake, all glitz and glamour.

Lorraine - the beautiful cake plate who graciously brought all the parts together time and time again.

Pam is gone. Barbara and Clipp have moved away. But we all remain close in our hearts."

This layout was done in
Adobe Photoshop. In addition to Erica’s Assemble Your Own Birthday Cake and one of her papers, I used Scrap Girls products by Amanda Sok, Brandy Murry and Cheryl Barber, as well as a bunch of papers from the free Refresh2 Biggie which I told you about in June.

P.S. Scrap Girls is running another sale which ends midnight tonight. Almost everything in the boutique is 7% off! While you’re there, be sure to check the current freebies and add them to your shopping cart.

Thank you all. I did send copies to the friends represented in my Girlfriend Cake and they were delighted.

It always surprises me when I realize people don't know what or how much I think of them.

That tells me I really need to tell them more often!

Thank you guys for telling me!!
