What’s the Best Craft from Recycled Materials?

Best out of waste craft?

Gaytri

This question wins the prize for brevity. But I get the idea ;-)

I can’t say what the “best” craft is using recycled waste. Examine your market and also the recyclable resources available to you. Can you get outdated upholstery sample books, tin cans, mason jars, magazines, comic books? Ask yourself what you could make with these things that people in your market would buy.

I see lots of "repurposed" items for sale on craft websites. For example, notebooks made out of Cheerios boxes. Strips of magazine pages rolled up to form beads and then made into jewelry. Refrigerator magnets using images from comic books. Purses woven from strips of aluminum cans.

Here are some recycling projects from The Artful Crafter.

Make fabric baskets from upholstery sample book pages or other fabric scraps. This has been a bestseller for me.

If you have smaller fabric scraps, turn them into double eyeglass cases or fabric flowers.

Transform tin cans into candle holders.

Make a book bag or tote from old blue jeans.

Create whimsical lamps from Mason jars or similar containers.

Make handmade paper. Sell the sheets individually or make them into notebooks and cards.

I hope you find these ideas helpful.

You can find a ton more of recycled craft ideas at Junk Creation.

You're welcome Peggy. I love your clever site and am happy to refer people to you.

No, it's you who is clever; not the website! ;-)
