Print Your Own Wedding Invitations

I am printing up my Wedding invitation using Microsoft Word but, I am having problems getting the text to print in the center. If my invitation is a flat card 4 3/4 x 6 7/8 inches. How should I set the page size and margins?

To easily print an odd-size document, use Word’s Custom Page Setup feature.

Open a new blank document. Select View>Print Layout. This will allow you to see how your text will appear when printed and assist in laying out the page.

Select File>Page Setup. Go to “Paper size”. Click on the down arrow to see the drop down menu of page sizes. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Custom. Then type in 4.75 for the width and 6.88 for the height. This is illustrated in the screenshot below.

Click OK. Type your invitation.

The top tool bar has little icons to choose how you want the type justified. I highlighted the body of the sample invitation and selected the icon to center justify. Then I highlighted the reception notice at the bottom and selected left justify.

The font used in my example is Cancellaresca Script LET. The body text is 18 pt and the reception notice is 14 pt.

Cut a few pieces of similar weight card stock to print and test the placement before you use your fancy card stock. Load card stock into the paper tray as you would load envelopes. Slide the adjustable guide to keep the stock lined up straight. Print.

Good info.

Or design a digital invite??

You're right Peggy. If one know Photoshop or another graphic software program, laying out cards, etc. is much easier.

But if you're not a graphic geek, you can still make your own professional looking invitations using a simple text editing program. :-)

Thanks for stopping by.

I wonder if you could go paper less and save a tree.... just send the pdf of the invitation?

:o)

Absolutely Noreen!

In fact many of my customers are doing that. They pay me for my design time, the pdf or jpeg and a number of hard copies.

Hard copies go only to those who don't use e-mail and members of the family who will want to keep the invitation as a souvenir.
